R.C. Sproul’s The Holiness of God
Gary Vander Wilt will be facilitating this well known video teaching series by R.C. Sproul. Gary recently showed one of these videos to an adult S.S. class and he had many people request the possibility of seeing this entire series. This oldie but goody will help you better understand the biblical picture of God’s awesome holiness and why it is so foundational to God-centered, God-honoring theology and Christian living. In The Holiness of God , R.C. Sproul demonstrates that encountering God’s holy presence is a terrifying experience. Dr. Sproul argues that this struggle is nonetheless necessary because it is the only way to cure our inclination to trust in ourselves and our own righteousness for salvation.
Join us in the Youth Room Café for this video series that will be 5 weeks long. After this class we will do an additional 4 week class for the remaining weeks of the quarter.
The Peace Maker
A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict
When’s the last time you were in conflict with someone? Was it with a friend, neighbor, spouse, fellow church-member, or relative? If you’re human, my guess is that it wasn’t too long ago. Conflict is a natural part of life because every person on this earth has faults and shortcomings and we interact with people on a daily basis. But the story doesn’t have to end there. God gives us some great guidance in Scripture of how to handle conflict. Teacher Jim Kramer will lead you through a study on personal conflict taken from the book The PeaceMaker by Ken Sande. He will facilitate an in-depth discussion and use Scripture to focus on topics such as our own faults, restoration, reconciliation, and ways to live in peace. Join us in Classroom #4 (across from Jim’s office) for this beneficial 9 week look at conflict. P.S. Just because you attend this class doesn’t mean that you’re in the middle of conflict right now. ?
Theos Class
Feel free to join the Theos Class as well as they continue their study in the book of Revelation. This class is located in the Fellowship Hall.
Transformation
The Adult Transformation Team is focused and committed to your spiritual growth. Over the past couple of years, we have really had some great teachers and great material in our adult S.S. classes. We have our gifted teachers continuing to teach and new teachers willing to give it a try as well and have done a wonderful job. The Transformation Team believes Sunday School is another chance for you to connect with God and grow deeper in your relationship with Him. It’s definitely not the be all end all in Transformation. Some in the church are growing a ton spiritually outside of Sunday School and that’s awesome but we also understand that many investing time and energy into your relationships with Christ to be a daily struggle. That’s why we believe so strongly in being a part of a S.S. class. Committing to attending a class each week allows you to get the ball rolling in your personal spiritual life one day a week, which will hopefully springboard spending time in God’s Word and in your S.S. material throughout the week. If this is happening, the Transformation Team would be greatly pleased and I think God would be as well.
Some close friends and family have considered me to be “dorky” from time to time and I confess to that but I am really excited about the S.S. classes we are offering for adults this Fall. And I’m not just saying that because I’m biased! J I look at the classes we are offering
and would love to be a part of all of them and I hope that doesn’t make me dorky; rather, passionate about becoming more like Christ and helping others to become passionate about that as well. So take some time to read over the classes we’ll offer this fall and seriously pray about which one God wants you to be a part of!
Blessings,
Pastor Bryce
