Community Service at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery

________________________________________.

Thank You

The Dorcas Society would like to thank everyone who helped with the sewing of blankets, diapers, and baby jackets this past year.  We sent 31 baby jackets, 24 diapers, 32 blankets, and 524 rolled bandages.  We will be asking for your help again this year.  Thank you!

Community Service

Reminder that there will be no services at SRBC on Sunday, September 5th, instead there will be a Community Service in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery at 10:30am.  Please bring a lawn chair for that service.

Awana Kickoff Night

Are you ready for the new AWANA year?  We sure hope you are!  The AWANA Registration Kickoff is going to be on Wednesday, September 1st at 6:30pm.  Be thinking about what friends, neighbors, and relatives you can invite to be a part of AWANA this year.  We're very excited for our new AWANA Co-Commanders Vince Lindaman and Lincoln Eekhoff.  They will be leading an All AWANA Staff meeting (including directors and listeners) at church on Wednesday, August 25th starting at 6:30pm to discuss the upcoming AWANA year.

In Need of AWANA Volunteers

We have a great group of leaders and volunteers for the upcoming AWANA year, but we still have a few huge needs that we would love to get filled in the next week.  If you have a half  hour or an hour and a half to serve on Wednesday  nights, we could most definitely use you!

Needs:

1 nursery worker

1 Cubbies listener

Sparks Listener substitutes

Not sure if you are gifted in this area?  If you love God and like kids, it's perfect for you!

Come be a part of the team and make a difference in the lives of our AWANA kids.

Preschool / K-5 Sunday School Kickoff

Be a winner and join us for Sunday School September 12.  We're starting the year with an exciting "Minute to Win It" contest.  More info will be mailed!

Village Creek Fall Camps

Check out the many fall retreats being offered at Village Creek Bible Camp. These new brochures are in the mounted display as you enter the front of the church.

Nursery Team

The nursery team is seeking someone who is interested in being on the nursery team.  This person would be responsible for all the safety aspects of the nursery.  For example, making sure the toys and the room in general is safe.  This position requires a small commitment of time.  Anyone who is interested could contact Lindsay Eekhoff by email:  eekhoff@heartofiowa.net or call 641.868.2032.

Amana Bus Trip

Please mark your calendar Wednesday, September 29th for a day full of great food, fun and fellowship.  We will be spending the day in the Amanas doing a little of everything and then end it at the Old Creamery Theater for a show.  More details in a couple of weeks but we hope you can plan for it now.  Brought to you by the Community Team Ministries.

Trustees Work List

There are a few things that didn't get completed on the scheduled work day.  Please sign up on the clip board in Jen's office or in the red friendship folders if you would be willing to help get these done.  Wash windows, trimming, painting lines on the east parking lot.  Thanks!

We would like to know everyone's skills and interests to enable the leadership team to find volunteers that will be well matched to that area of ministry.  So please consider taking the time to fill out these surveys. Click on the link below to access this survey and the results will be submitted to the church.

A huge thanks to the gals who were table leaders during this summer's bible study!  They were:  Mona Bleeker, Tricia Jones, Tamma Perry, Carrie Simon, Gwen Wrich and Maggie Vander Wilt during the morning sessions.  Jeanne Gray, Jodi Carosone, Lora Kramer, Sherry Lippert, Linda Luiken, Mary Weaver and Janet Siert led during the evening sessions.  Their commitment to attending and caring for their tables of ladies was awesome!  Also a huge thanks to the adult volunteers and to the youth who worked in the nursery - without your help many young moms would not be able to attend.
