Survey Says… We’re Heading to Guatemala to Serve!

God has been at work since last summer guiding our church’s steps to our next international mission trip. Our Mission Team had a desire to look into the possibility of a long-term partnership, which would allow us to make a lasting impact on a country and see how specific Guatemalan ministries and churches can help us grow as well. After an initial visit in August, our team decided to work with Global Community Health Evangelism (Global CHE), a ministry which has proven over a couple decades to bring wholistic ministry including the Gospel and community enhancement through the work of the locals.

Our team of 24 students and adults are ready to serve the people of rural Guatemala June 14th-22nd! We have been fundraising, getting trained in team meetings, preparing our hearts spiritually, praying for the people we’ll be serving, and building team unity over the past 3 months.

Our mission while we’re in Guatemala is 3-fold: children’s ministry, construction, and medical assistance. God has nudged the hearts of adults and students who have answered the call to serve for a week. He has put a really great team of unique personalities and giftedness to achieve our 3-fold focus. As a reminder, here is our team:

Lydia Butler * Hannah Bakker * Peyton Benson * Kierra Dodd * Ava Guiles * Bella Keaveny*

Carter Kies * Aiden Kuecker * Karis Lippert * Camden Maas * Daniel Michaelson *

Aiyana Reisetter * Macy Roskens * Sadie Roskens * Grant Solberg * Drew Stansbury *

Greg Michaelson * Evelyn Hahn * Kienzle Hoodjer * Matt Kuecker * Bryce Roskens*

Carrie Simon * Jay Stanish * Dave Van Gorp *

A trip with 24 people is a huge undertaking financially. Some of our team members have paid their entire way, while everyone on the team has paid a significant portion towards their trip.  Through our church budget, we were able to scholarship each student with around $700, which was a huge blessing. For the remaining funds, we have sold pizzas, hosted an Easter Brunch, sent our personal support letters (mostly people outside of our church), recruited financial and prayer partners, but we need one more big push to achieve our fundraising goal!

And that’s where you come in! Sunday night, June 2nd at 6:00 PM is our big supper, gameshow night & auction fundraiser. We’ll be serving delicious brisket sandwiches with sides along with some top-notch desserts. Following the meal, we’ll host a fun gameshow night with preselected contestants, which will certainly be entertaining and give you plenty of reasons to laugh! We’ll wrap up the night with some wonderful auction items including homemade desserts, handmade bowls, a full car detailing, adult and student manual labor (including Pastor Harrison!), lego sets, full health history consultation with Dr. Van Gorp, along with some fun gift baskets, and more! The night is expected to conclude at 8:00 PM. Childcare will be available for families who can join us.

Survey Says… you should plan to join us this evening for some great food and entertainment! Our final goal is to raise $4,000- $4,500 and we know that this is possible through our church and guests who believe in launching the next generation!

Blessings,

Pastor Bryce
