Missionaries as Global Partners

In recent years, some churches and organizations have renamed the title of “Missionary” to “Global Partner.”  Sometimes this helps missionaries serve more securely in some countries - and it may be a more modern/accurate term for their role. While the terminology is not always important, the title of “global partner” more fully describes an effective relationship between missionaries and the churches and individuals that prayerfully and financially support them.

Our missionaries serve God and others around the globe and really are an extension of the ministry of Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. As our “global partners,” they are accountable to us by sharing:

·         their ministry activities, successes, and challenges

·         long-term and one-time support needs,

·         prayer requests,

·         how they and their families are doing, and

·         plans for regular visits to our church.

Our church’s role is not only providing prayer and financial support, but being full partners with their ministry, even though we are not on the field with them.

Here are suggestions on how our church (YOU) can partner with the fourteen missionaries we support:

1.      Pray for the “Missionary of the Month” as promoted in Water from the Rock, before Sunday morning services, and in the weekly prayer sheet.

2.      Email one or more missionaries requesting that you receive their regular prayer letters.

3.      Write/email missionaries telling them about you, your family, and your prayer requests. Ask how you can be praying for them.

4.      Pray regularly for one or more missionaries, along with your family. (The most important suggestion of all!)

5.      Attend Pathway classes on Sundays when visiting missionaries provide an update on their ministry.

6.      Consider inviting visiting missionaries into your home for a meal, host them overnight, or take them out for a meal when they are in the area. Contact Bret Clikeman on the Missions Team at bc14195@heartofiowa.net if you would be interested in serving in this way.
