Our Missionaries: Part 2
Steamboat Rock Baptist Church supports 14 missionaries and six Christian organizations. In the September 2024 issue of Water from the Rock, we shared information about the seven missionaries that we support who are associated with the North American Baptist Conference. This month, we will share information about our missionaries serving with other missions agencies.
Please take a moment to review information about the missionary families below and make a habit of praying for them. Many have already been featured as our “Missionary of the Month.” Their email address and other information is included. Of note, three of the missionaries noted below have been a regular part of Steamboat Rock Baptist Church! It is always a special blessing to send out “some of our own” into the mission field. 😊
Forrest and Julia Dawkins: fwdawkins@gmail.com They work with the international students ministry at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Forrest preached at our church in March 2024 and is always happy to visit us, as he also grew up in our church. He requests prayer for their ministry team, Bible studies that they hold with students, and for favor with the University.
Alan and Judy Steier: alan.steier56@gmail.com They provide a support ministry to missionaries worldwide with Barnabas International https://www.barnabas.org/ They visited our church in June 2024 and ministered to missionaries in Japan in early November 2024. Alan was a pastor of our church several years ago. Please pray that the Spirit will guide who they connect with and what they talk about. Ask God to give them discerning ears and hearts and enable them to ask good questions. Pray for energy for them to keep listening well - before offering their own thoughts and for safety as they travel.
Noah and Jessica McCauley: jmccauley@YWAMOrlando.com They encourage young adults to become involved with missions as they work with Youth with a Mission (YWAM) in Orlando, Florida. https://ywam.org/about-us Jessica grew up in our church as Jessica Lippert, the daughter of our former pastor Harrison and Pam Lippert. They were very thankful to have attended the YWAM International Conference in the Philippines and appreciated the support our church provided to help fund that trip.
In January and February 2025, they will be traveling to different locations in the United States with a focus on college campuses for evangelism, training, and mobilization. Noah and Jessica will be co-leading this trip with another staff member and appreciate our prayers for their safe travels and effective ministry. They also request prayers for Noah to have wisdom, brain capacity, and break throughs for all the problem-solving and planning his responsibilities require and for their family to have discernment in what to prioritize so that they can be healthy in all areas. They hope to visit our church again in fall 2025.
Brenda Cole: brendac@awana.org Brenda is the AWANA missionary in Iowa and Minnesota to help support AWANA ministries in churches, including Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. https://www.awana.org/ She visited here in August 2024 to provide training for our AWANA leaders. Brenda is “encouraged by fantastic leaders committed to engaging with their AWANA kids and teaching them the Word and the love of God.” Please pray for Brenda as she tackles full-time graduate school and full-time work. Pray for the churches that have started AWANA this past fall – that God will bless them as they reach kids with the Gospel.
Note: Three of our missionary families serve in sensitive areas and are not listed for security reasons. Their information is shared with our church through other means.
In other news….
We continue to update the missionary section of our church website, where you will be able to see photos of and other information about our missionaries. We hope to have this project completed by the end of this year. We will let you know when it is up and running!
This fall, the missions team emailed each of our supported missionaries and organizations to determine their annual support needs, any one-time support needs they may have, any specific prayer requests, and when they expect to visit Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. This information was incredibly helpful as we drafted our proposed missions team budget and as we begin to plan for missionary visits to our church in 2025. We have also been praying through all the updated prayer requests we received from each of them.
As always, please continue to pray for our missionaries as they serve God around the world.
