Our Missionaries with the North American Baptist Conference
The North American Baptist (NAB) Conference supports missionaries around the world in over 13 different countries. You can see a complete list of the countries here: https://nabonmission.org/countries/. Steamboat Rock Baptist Church (SRBC) supports seven NAB missionary families serving in Cameroon, Brazil, Japan, Hungary, and the United States. A complete list of all the NAB missionaries can be found here: https://nabonmission.org/missionaries/ In total, our church supports 14 different missionaries and six different Christian organizations!
SRBC had the privilege of hearing from three of our NAB missionaries during a special missions conference at our church on July 7, 2024. Lyndell Campbell-Requia shared about her ministry with the Rio Grande do Sul Baptist Theological Seminary in Brazil where she serves as a professor and administrator. She also told us how she, other NAB missionaries, and the seminary helped victims of the historic floods in Brazil earlier this year. Marci Jones, whose husband is also a professor at this seminary, explained similar ministry opportunities among those affected by the flood. These efforts continue. Finally, Laci Daroczi told us how he and his wife Eszter use community health evangelism principles to meet the physical, social, and spiritual needs of the Roma people in Hungary. We all learned how to “Go Fish” around the world!
The absolute highlight for me attending the NAB Triennial Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota July 11-14, 2024 was to meet with all seven of our NAB missionaries!!! Debbie Bardin told me about the importance of their medical missions work in Cameroon, how they train national physicians and nurses to work in their hospital, and how they minister amidst ongoing civil unrest. I enjoyed meeting Shan Reed for the first time. Shan is finishing her time with women ministries in Japan and will return to the United States in spring 2025. We hope to host her here at our church next year as she shares next steps in her ministry after leaving Japan.
Dan Andrews, our NAB Upper Mississippi Regional Minister expressed his continued support of our church as we seek to find both an interim and senior pastor. It was great to meet Randy Schmor, who continues to serve as NAB’s Gateway Director to foster NAB church partnership/trips with ministries locally and internationally. He also serves as the NAB Interim Vice President for Missions while they search for a permanent director. In the past, Randy has helped our church send mission teams to other countries, including Hungary.
Please take a moment to review the list of our seven NAB missionary families below and make a habit of praying for them. Many have already been featured as our “Missionary of the Month.” Their email address and a website link to their missionary letters and other information is also included.

Looking ahead, plans are underway to update the missionary section of our church website this fall, where you will be able to see photos of and other information about our missionaries (NAB and others). Also, this fall, the missions team will email each of our supported missionaries and organizations to determine their annual support needs, any one-time support needs they may have, any specific prayer requests, and when they expect to visit Steamboat Rock Baptist Church. This information will help guide the formulation of the 2025 Missions Budget and plan for future missionary visits. Most importantly, we will learn how we can pray for them more effectively! Please continue to pray for our missionaries as they serve God around the world.
