Embarking on Mission Together

In just over 2 months, we will send one of the largest international mission trip teams in our church’s history. This is a huge endeavor that we are praying will make a huge impact in the lives and hearts of people we interact with in Guatemala. Our plan is to work alongside Global Community Health Evangelism (CHE), who has been reaching people in Guatemala with the Gospel for over 20 years. They work long term and wholistically with villages with the hopes of planting a church or having an evangelical presence in those communities. They seek to obey everything that Jesus commanded by addressing the whole needs of individuals and communities. Our team of 24 students and adults have been invited to work alongside of them from June 14-22. We will work in the village of Calel and focus our ministry efforts on children’s ministry, construction projects, and medical relief efforts. Here is our team!

Lydia Butler * Hannah Bakker * Peyton Benson * Kierra Dodd * Ava Guiles * Carter Kies * Bella Keaveny * Aiden Kuecker * Karis Lippert * Camden Maas * Daniel Michaelson * Aiyana Reisetter * Macy Roskens * Sadie Roskens * Grant Solberg * Drew Stansbury * Kienzle Hoodjer * Evelyn Hahn * Matt Kuecker * Greg Michaelson * Bryce Roskens * Carrie Simon * Jay Stanish * Dave Van Gorp

Our goal from the start was to help students fundraise 1/3 of their cost for this mission trip. Our first two fundraisers have been a huge success. We raised $500 so far in our Money for Missions M&M tubes. Just a reminder that you still have a week to turn yours into the Welcome Center in Main Street if you haven’t filled it yet. Likewise, Easter Brunch greatly exceeded our team’s expectations. So many of you flooded the Fellowship Hall with your families and donated a generous $3,700 towards our trip. We heard so many positive comments about the food and the friendly service, so it was definitely a win-win for our church!

While we have an awesome team assembled, we are not the “missions’ version” of the Navy Seals. We need your help to pull off this important mission. Would you consider embarking on mission together with us in the next 2 months? Below you will find several ways to jump on our team using your specific giftings that God has blessed you with. Please talk to Bryce if you want to know more about any of the opportunities below. Or if you think a friend or family member can help in any way, mention their name to Bryce and we’ll track them down. ;)

Ways to Embark on Mission with Us

1.)    Pray for Us.

We have lots of planning and prep to do in the next 2 months. You will see prayer requests pop up in the weekly prayer bulletin as specific prayer requests come up.

2.)    Prayer & Financial Partners.

In April, we will have a magnetized card for each of the 24 people who will be going to Guatemala. Each card has a picture with some more information about the student/adult along with some prayer requests for them. In conjunction with prayer, we are asking for a $150 sponsorship towards this person’s mission trip expenses. On the evening of June 12th, our prayer partners will enjoy some Root Beer Floats at the Roskens’ House in Eldora and have a send-off prayer time with participants and their families.

3.)    Buy a pizza!

Back by popular demand is our Little Caesar’s pizza kits. Shockingly, this is one fundraiser we do that people ask if we’re doing again! Be on the lookout in late April for one of our students who can take your order. The frozen pizza kits will be delivered to you in late May/early June.

4.)    Supper & Auction Night: Sunday night, June 2nd

This is going to be one of those fun, memorable nights that you don’t want to miss. Come enjoy a delicious supper, some fun entertainment, and some great items/experiences to bid on! Below are 3 specific ways you can be a part of this big night that we hope will complete our fundraising efforts!

·         Food Team – if you are a food connoisseur and like to plan for large gatherings, come help us lead or be a part of this team!

·         Auction Organizing Team – if you have helped with an auction night before, you’re the right person for this team. You’ll help organize auction items and help us structure the night to be successful!

·         Entertainment Team – we can’t have a large get-together, without some good fun planned! If you have some fun in your bones, come jump on this team with Bryce!

While we look forward to the work God will do in the lives of Guatemalans, we also know he has some work to do in our team as well. Every mission trip that I’ve been a part of has left a huge spiritual impact on the participants. Your long-term investment in the youth of our communities, schools, and church makes mission trips like this possible. Thanks for embarking on mission together with us!

Blessings,
